HISTORY OF CHRISTIAN PAVILION CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST

In the year of 1992, National Church of God In Christ Evangelist J.P. Weaver, III, founded the Christian Pavilion Ministries; which was established to orchestrate all of the evangelistic affairs of Elder Weaver, who would eventually travel extensively across the country preaching the unadulterated, undiluted, and uncompromising gospel of Jesus Christ.

In May of 2008, destiny would call Evangelist Weaver to Chester, PA, to conduct the greatest revival that the city of Chester has ever experienced. Bishop Cornelius Range, Pastor of Range Memorial Church of God In Christ, invited Evangelist Weaver to Range Memorial to conduct a one-week revival. During that week, there was such a mighty move of God, and God began to move in ways as he had in the days of ole. The saints were delivered from terminal illnesses, unbelievers accepted Christ, believers were filled with the Holy Ghost, backsliders reclaimed, the membership increased, and financial freedom proclaimed. There was such an outpour of the spirit that Bishop Range insisted that Evangelist Weaver stay a little longer. What would have typically been a one-week revival, ended up being a five-week historical event that would go down in Christendom.

It was through this revival that Bishop Range invited fellow saints from surrounding states. One of the attendees was District Missionary Willa Greene, who had been praying that God would send a “great revival” to the City of Wilmington. This was also an inner cry of several other saints throughout Wilmington that wanted to witness a miraculous move of God.

God spoke in Missionary Greene’s spirit that Evangelist Weaver was the person He wanted to lead a new work in Delaware.  She was led to invite Elder Weaver to conduct a three-day revival for the Southern District, believing that God would edify the body of Christ.  This revival proved to be the pivotal moment of God’s confirmation. Upon Elder Weaver’s return home to fasting and praying, God led him to accept this call to ministry here in Delaware.

During a special, pre-arranged meeting, at the request of that small group of Wilmington saints, Evangelist Weaver came to Wilmington and met with them concerning their desires for new leadership as it relates to pastoral ministry. It was then, on the evening of Saturday, February 14, 2009, that the Christian Pavilion Church of God in Christ was born.

To God be the glory for the things he has done, for what he is yet doing, and for the things he is going to do!!!
